The organization of university doctoral education established by Royal Decree 99/2011 states in its article 15.1.a) that "the title of Doctor may include on its front the mention "International Doctorate" provided that during the training period, the doctoral student has carried out one or more stays for at least three months outside of Spain in one or several prestigious higher education institutions or research centers, in order to complement and reinforce their research training".
Likewise, it is established that the stays and activities must be endorsed by the Director and authorized by the Academic Committee and, once carried out and validated by the host entity, they will be incorporated into the doctoral student's activities document.
To promote these doctorates with international mention, the University of Valencia, through the International Relations and Cooperation Service, annually announces a line of aid aimed at facilitating the completion of these stays.
