Specific admission criteria

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
As general entry requirement they should be contemplated in some of the presumptions of the article 6 of the RD 99/2011 or of the second additional provision of such Royal Decree.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS/CRITERIA:
As specific requirement:
a) Students should have taken the Master’s Degree related to this Doctoral Programme. In the event of holding the Diploma d'Estudis Avançats (DEA-a tertiary education degree)- obtained according to the Royal Decree 778/98– or the Research Proficiency- according to the regulations of the Royal Decree 185/85– , they must have been completed within Doctoral Programmes related to this.
b) Also, the students who have taken other Master’s Degree studies different to the ones mentioned above can be admitted, whenever they are Master’s degree related to these or to the research lines of the doctoral studies.

Students who fulfil the requirements shall have access to the doctoral programme, being the Doctoral Studies Academic Committee responsible of verifying the compliance of the above requirements for the admission of the applicant.

Selection criteria

In the event that student demand exceeds supply and a selection of students is required, this will be undertaken by the Academic Doctoral Committee according to scientific and academic criteria based on the following weighting table:

-40%- Background training and entry certification to the Doctoral Studies. Students with the Master’s Degree in Teledetection or related to it, will be given the maximum score.
-30%-Average qualifications of the Master’s Degree academic record
-10%- Average qualifications of the Degree or licenciatura academic record
-20%- Candidates’ CV, with merits and references justification. In order to assess this section, it will be taken into account if students have carried out research works, publications, communications to academic conferences related to Teledetection, Atmospheric Physics or related subject matters.

It will also be taken into account if students have been granted with scholarships or collaboration contracts in projects related to Teledetection or with issues related to the Doctoral Programme. The recommendation letters written by two experts in the field of Teledetection or Atmospheric Physics (10% maximum) will also be assessed. If the Academic Committee, if it is appropriate, can conduct an interview with the candidate about the claimed merits.
