
The professors Silvia Barona Vilar, Carlos Esplugues Mota and Juan Francisco Herrero Perezagua, members of the “Sustainable Justice in a State of Global Change” (JUSOST), project, participated in the International Conference “The Present and Future of Procedural Law”, held in Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) on March 19 and 20, 2026.
The congress reunited specialists from different countries to analyze the main challenges facing procedural law in a context of technological and social transformation, with a particular focus on the digitization of the justice system, artificial intelligence, and the evolution of procedural models.
Professor, Dr. Silvia Barona Vilar had a prominent role by participating in the opening panel, where he delivered the keynote address titled “Artificial Intelligence in Civil Justice: Challenges for the Legal Profession in the 21st Century,” in which he discussed the impact of new technologies on the practice of law and the functioning of the judicial system.
For his part, Dr. Juan Francisco Herrero Perezagua spoke at the panel on civil procedure, presenting a paper titled “The Deregulation of Civil Procedure,” in which he reflected on regulatory developments and new approaches to the regulation of civil procedure.
Finally, Dr. Carlos Esplugues Mota, participated in the panel on Constitutional Procedural Law with a presentation titled “Dialogue Among Courts, Multilevel Justice,” in which he analyzed the interaction between different levels of jurisdiction in a globalized context.
The participation of the JUSOST team in this international conference reinforces its academic projection in the Ibero-American field and its commitment to studying contemporary challenges in procedural law, in line with the project’s objectives of promoting a justice system that is more sustainable, innovative, and adapted to global changes.
