On the occasion of the European Mediation Day, on 21st January, the research project JUSOST hosted in the Victor Fairen Hall, at the Faculty of Law from the Universitat de València, the International Congress “Integración de los MASC en la Justicia: avances y tareas pendientes” (MASC integration in justice – advances and pending tasks), an academic reference aimed to the analysis of Appropriate Methods of Conflicts Solution (MASC) in the current justice system.
The congress, carried out by Dr Silvia Barona Vilar, main researcher of the Justicia Sostenible en estado de mudanza global (JUSOST) project – CIPROM 2023-64 (GVA), gathered a prominent list of both national and international lecturers who debated with a large and quite active audience about the multiple legal implications –both practical and structural– that, nowadays, raise the Organic Law 1/2025, in the proceeding of effective integration of MASC in the Spanish Justice.
In the framework of the meeting, several members of the JUSOST research group took part. Among these members, there were professors Carlos Esplugues, Guillermo Palao, Elena Martínez, Esther Pillado, Ignacio Colomer and Nicolás Rodríguez-García, who addressed, from complementary perspectives, the progress achieved and the pending challenges in the consolidation of a more dialogued, efficient and sustainable justice.
These sessions highlighted the increasing relevance of mediation, and other alternative mechanisms as key tools for the modernisation of the legal system, promoting an agreement culture and a more appropriate response to the contemporary social needs.
This congress fits in the scientific activities of the JUSOST project, dedicated to critical and purposeful reflection about justice transformation in a context of global change, and also dedicated to the promotion of more sustainable, accessible, and people-centred models.
