On March 24, 2026, Prof. Dr. Elena Martínez García, a member of the Sustainable Justice in a State of Global Change (JUSOST) project, delivered a lecture titled “Protecting the Vulnerable Interests of Future Generations” as part of an international conference dedicated to reflecting on new legal challenges.

During her speech, professor Martínez focused on one of the most sensitive fields of Contemporary law: the protection of the future generations interests, considered as the most vulnerable due to their legal and social invisibility. In that sense, there was a debate on the need to establish mechanisms to protect the rights of the unborn, as well as on the obligations of States to ensure their protection.

The meeting addressed the concepts of intergenerational justice as a key tool to give these interests legal and political weight, by promoting an approach that integrates sustainability and responsibility toward the future into current decision-making.

The participation of professor Elena Martínez reinforces the commitment of the JUSOST project with the analysis of the vulnerability from a wide and innovative perspective, contributing to the construction of the toward more inclusive, sustainable, and future-oriented models of justice.
