On 23 April 2026, Professor Elena Martínez García, member of the Sustainable Law in a state of global change (JUSOST) project, held the conference Análisis de la justicia desde la perspectiva de género (Law perspective from gender perspective) at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València, in the frame of the 4th Fair of Feminist Books.
The intervention of Professor Martínez was held in order to present her work La función jurisdiccional con perspectiva de género: por qué, para qué y cómo, awarded with the Celia Amorós Award by the Ministry of Equality. This work delves into the need for including gender perspective in jurisdictional activity.
During the conference, the speaker tackled the bases and goals of gender perspective in justice, highlighting its relevance for guaranteeing an effective and equal legal protection specially, in contexts of vulnerability. Additionally, she considered the challenges of its practical application within legal field, and the role of legal professionals in the construction of a fairer system.
The activity was part of the Fair’s programme, held at the hall of the Faculty of Law, which hosted several initiatives aimed at promoting critical thinking and reflection on rights, equality, and law from a feminist perspective.
The participation of Professor Elena Martínez reinforces the commitment of JUSOST project to the inclusion of gender perspective in legal analysis and the promotion of legal systems that are more inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to structural inequalities.
