Elena Martínez García, Procedural Law professor and member of the Sustainable justice in situation of global change (JUSOST) project, gave a lecture on December 12th of 2025 at the University of Salamanca the 8th Student Debate Forum on the topic of Public Equality Policies.
Under the title of “Judicial authority through a gender lens for the protection of victims vulnerable to domestic violence”, the intervention focused on the analysis of the role played by the judiciary to guarantee an effective protection of women who are victims of domestic violence, placing the emphasis on the need to incorporate a gender perspective in the interpretation and enforcing of the Law.
During the lecture, Martínez García reflected on the challenges which the jurisdiction faces when protecting especially vulnerable communities. Moreover, she also analysed the importance of adapting the judicial processes to current social truths in order to move forward to a justice system that is more equal, more inclusive and more aware of vulnerable groups.
The participation of professor Martínez García in this forum only reinforces the commitment from the JUSOST project to studying the vulnerability, the gender equality and the creation of a sustainable justice model that is coherent to democratic values and human rights.
