Members of the research team of the Jusost project participate in the International Congress “La ley del más débil”

Professors Silvia Barona Vilar, Carlos Esplugues and Juan Antonio García Amado, members of the project JUSOST, participate in the Juridical International Congress “La ley del más débil. Argumentar la vulnerabilidad en la práctica jurídica”. The academic meeting counted with the co-leading of professor Juan Antonio García Amado, full university professor in Legal Philosophy of the Universidad de León, and professor Silvia Barona Vilar, full-time university professor of Procedural Law of the Universitat de València.

The congress celebrated on 27, 28 y 29 August, 2025 in the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, counted with the participation of close to 30 speakers and a public that beat the 200 acting people capacity. Speakers of the judicial power from México and Guatemala intervened, as well as from the School of Lawyers in Mexico, from the UNAM, from the Universities of León, Valencia and Malaga (Spain), from the Spanish Embassy in México and from the Universidad Rafael Landívar of Guatemala.

The three members of the research team of the project JUSOST had a remarkable participation in the congress, intervening in the inaugural act, in the panel discussions and giving three mayor conferences. Dr Carlos Esplugues presented the conference “Diálogo de jurisdiccionales, de tribunales y de ordenamientos jurídicos”; Dr Silvia Barona Vilar tackled “MASC, Justicia consensuada, ¿otra mirada de la justicia?”; and Dr Juan Antonio García Amado exposed “¿Es ponderable la presunción de inocencia? O de cómo hacernos vulnerables en el proceso penal”.
