On December 2nd of 2025, professor Elena Martínez García, a member of the Sustainable justice in situation of global change (JUSOST) project, gave a lecture at the Faculty of Law of the University of Barcelona on the guardianship of the interests of future generations.
During her intervention, Martínez García covered one of the most emerging debates in the field of international law: the vulnerability of the rights of unborn people and their progressive consideration as objects of guardianship in contemporary jurisprudence.
The lecture became a fruitful debate among the professors and the students who attended, highlighting the need to rethink the normative frames in order to guarantee a sustainable justice system that considers not only the rights of those present, but the rights of those who are to come as well.
This activity is framed within the lines of research of project JUSOST, which is oriented to analyse the global challenges which affect the justice system and to promote innovative approaches committed to legal and social sustainability.
