The professor Dr. Silvia Barona Vilar has been honoured with the appointment as prestigious academic Academia Mexicana de Ciencias Penales, founded institution in 1940 and historically linked to renowned figures from the Mexican and international Criminal Law. This recognition has been given in light of her brilliant academic trajectory and her solid link to Mexico and other countries from the Hispanic American field.

At the same time, she has been named academic of the recently created Academia Española de Ciencias Penales, on 4 November, 2024 which reinforces her role as an international referent in the Criminal Law field.

These appointments suppose a double recognition to her research, teaching and academic cooperation work, in favour of a more guarantee-based, humanist and transnational Criminal Law.
