Doctors and Professors Silvia Barona Vilar and Carlos Esplugues Mota, research project JUSOST (Sustainable Justice in the Gloval Moving State) – CIPROM 2023-64 (GVA) members visited Ecuador where they participated actively in different scientific activities and institutional cooperation.
During their stay, they participated in the conference 'Challenges in Civil Justice in the 21st Century',’ held at the Metropolitan University of Quito. The meeting was led by Dr. René Bedón, Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Dr. Daniel Peñaherrera, with the collaboration of the Ecuadorian Association of Magistrates and Judges (AEMAJ), Dr. Fabián Fabara Gallardo of the National Council of the Judiciary, and the Critical Legal Research Network (REDIJ), coordinated by Dr. Alex Valle.
Professors Barona and Esplugues also held institutional meetings with representatives of the National Association of Notaries, including Dr. Jaime Espinoza, and concluded their visit with a working session at Simón Bolívar Andean University, together with Principal Dr. César Montaño Galarza, Director of Postgraduate Studies Dr. Claudia Storini, and lecturer Mª Ángeles Lombeida.
These meetings served to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation between the JUSOST group and various Ecuadorian institutions, with the aim of developing joint research and training projects that promote a more sustainable, global and inclusive justice system.
