The professors Carlos Esplugues Mota, Silvia Barona Vilar and Juan Francisco Herrero Perezagua, members of the Sustainable law in the state of global change (JUSOST) project, on March 17,2026, participated in the International Seminary ¨Technology and Process¨, held at the Law Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires.
The event brought together specialist from Argentina, Colombia and Chile, creating a space for international reflection on the impact of technology on court proceedings and the administration of justice.
As a part of the seminar, professor Silvia Barona Vilar addressed the topic “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Prevention, Investigation, and Criminal Decision-Making: An Assistant in the Criminal Justice System,” analyzing the growing role of algorithmic tools in the criminal justice system.
For his part, the professor Juan Francisco Herrero Perezagua, focused his speech on “Electronic case files, remote hearings, and other e-Justice tools: moving toward a paperless system,”, reflecting on the digital transformation of the process and the challenges associated with the implementation of technologies in judicial administration.
Finally, the professor Carlos Esplugues Mota presented his presentation about “Arbitration and Artificial Intelligence”, exploring the implications of the AI in the in conflict resolution mechanisms and international arbitration.
The participation of the JUSOST team in this international seminary, reinforces its academic projection in the Ibero-American field and strengthens its commitment to analyzing the challenges posed by the digitization of the justice system, in line with the project’s objectives of promoting models that are more sustainable, innovative, and adapted to global technological changes.
