
On 6 February 2026, the seminar “Current civil proceedings. Orality and audience managemenet, with or without judicial files” was celebrated at the Ciudad de la Justicia. It was organised by the CIPROM 2023/64 (GVA) project “Sustainable justice in situation of global change (JUSOST)” and directed by professor Dr Silvia Barona Vilar.
The person in charge in of the main lecture was Isabel Tena Franco. From her practical experience, she presented the challenges posed by orality in Spanish civil proceedings, especially in light of the recent digitalization of the justice system and the reinterpretation of the orality principle in an environment marked by the use of online judicial files system.
Professors Andrea Meroi (Argentina), Nelson Angelomè (Argentina), Philipp Anzenberger (Austria) and Jorge Alves Costa (Portugal) participated in the seminar as discussants, enriching the debate with a compared and international perspective.
The session allowed for a profound dialogue between academia and judicial practices, covering key topics about audience management, immediacy, contradiction and procedural guarantees in a context of technological transformation. The conference highlighted the need to rethink civil proceedings to ensure their efficiency and coherence in a justice system that is progressively more digitalised.
With this activity, the JUSOST project continues to promote spaces of interdisciplinary reflection on the contemporary challenges of civil proceedings and the creation of a sustainable justice system in times of global change.
