Last 29 May 2026, professor Silvia Barona Vilar and Carlos Esplugues Mota, members of the Justicia sostenible en estado de mudanza global (JUSOST) – CIPROM 2023-64 GVA project, participated in the 3rd International Seminar “Módulo Jean Monnet IA y Derecho Privado Europeo. Un espacio de diálogo académico entre Europa y América Latina sobre los desafíos del Derecho en la era de la inteligencia artificial”, hosted at the Faculty of Law at the Universitat de València.
The seminar, directed by professor Dr Sebastián Bozzo Hauri, brought together teachers and researchers who come from different academic institutions of Europe and Latin America. Among them, there is the Autonomous University of Chile, the Universitat de València, the University of Barcelona, the University of Castilla-la-Mancha and the Universidad Católica de València.
The session was planned as a space of academic and scientific exchange, aimed at analysing the impact of artificial intelligence in the different fields of Law, benefiting the interdisciplinary dialogue among specialists of different countries and legal traditions.
Through the different interventions and the subsequent conversation, current issues related to the incorporation of artificial intelligence systems in the legal practice and in the administration of justice were addressed. The debate provided an examination of the challenges and opportunities that this technological transformation creates from complementary perspectives, including Civil Law, Procedural Law, Private International Law, Financial Law, and Philosophy of Law.
The participation of professors Silvia Barona and Carlos Esplugues is part of the international intense activity developed by the JUSOST project, aimed at promoting reflection spaces about the changes that contemporary legal systems experiment and about the need of building sustainable, innovative and respectful justice models, with fundamental rights in the digital age.
The seminar laid bare the importance of strengthening academic links between Europe and Latin America to face collectively the challenges that artificial intelligence creates to Law and justice of the 21st century.
