Prof. and Dr. Ana Isabel Blanco García, tenure-track 1 lecturer in the Department of Administrative and Procedural Law of the Universitat de València, academic secretary of the University Master’s degree in Law, Business and Justice of this university and member of the MedArb Research Group, is the creator and co-director of a Master’s degree in Banking Law, Insurances and Financial Markets at the Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC).
This Master’s degree had a great reception among students and also professionals of the sector in Guatemala, with students from important institutions such as the Superintendecia de Bancos, since this is the first post-graduate title on Banking and Financial Law offered by a university from Guatemala that is also of an international nature. Thus, all members of the teaching body are foreigners, from several Spanish universities and other non European universities –Uruguay and Brazil– as well as from the professional sector. This allows to offer a more wide vision of the working, organisation and regulation of the financial sector –comprising the three subsectors in which it is divided: banking, insurances and investment– not only from a theoretical perspective but also from a practical one, since most of the professors are or were linked with financial activity, as workers in known and prestigious banking entities or with a trustees in insolvency position or even as advisors in the writing of financial rules.
Likewise, it is reflected the cooperation relationship between the USAC and the Universitat de València, with the participation in this title of other professors of the Master’s degree in Law, Business and Justice –like the prof. Dr. Jesús Olavarría or the prof. Dr. Pablo Quinzá–, which also shows the disposition and good relationship of the Master’s degree in Law, Business and Justice with Universities of Latin America.
