88th:

This conference offers a historical perspective of the epidemics that affect humans since Antiquity. It is about discussing the environmental, biological and social factors involved in the great historical pandemics, associating them with historical periods, living conditions, medical care and health care systems. Attempts to show the use of history in the analysis and understanding of current scientific, medical and technological problems.


89th:

The first half of the 20th century was a critical period characterized by war, famine, the Great Depression and global instability. Under these critical circumstances, Dr. Tadasu Saiki inaugurated an Imperial Government Institute of Nutrition (IGIN, 1920) which has a great international impact. This conference presents Tadasu Saiki, his international teaching and nutritional ideas, the important scientific and political role of IGIN and the global network of scientific and diplomatic relations.
