Research Group on Climate, Culture, Leadership, and Measurement in Organizations (CLIMO)

The researching activity of the group is developed through the following action lines

  • Identifying and describing the work environment formation processes and the culture of the organizations.
  • Determining the influence that the leadership exerts on the work environment formation processes and the organizational culture, as well as on their average levels and variability.
  • Determining the influence of work environment, organizational culture and leadership on key processes for the functioning of the work teams (e.g. conflict, communication, reflexivity.)
  • Estimating the indirect effects of work environment, culture and leadership on the results of work teams (e.g. efficiency, quality service) and the quality of the working life of its members (e.g. psychological well-being, job satisfaction) through the previously mentioned processes.
  • Determining the influence of the work teams’ composition regarding demographic variables (e.g. gender, education, seniority) on the processes and the teams’ results.
  • Developing and validation of measure tools (e.g. tests, questionnaires, scales) to measure the variables previously mentioned.
  • Determining the invariability of the psychometric properties of these measures through demographic groups (e.g. men-women), languages (e.g. Spanish-Portuguese), countries and cultural contexts.

Objectives

  1. Offering an integrative explanatory model about the factors which determine the emergency processes and the development of the work environment and organizational culture.
  2. Identifying key mechanisms through which work environment and organizational culture impact on the results of the work teams and the working life quality of their members.
  3. Elaborating an explanatory model on the influence of the work teams’ composition on their functioning and results.
  4. Elaborating valid and reliable measuring tools of the previously mentioned variables, whose psychometric properties should be sufficiently invariant through demographic, languages, countries and cultural contexts groups.
