The above list refers to current EHEA bachelor's degrees (grau), but it extends to official university qualifications awarded under previous regulations: pre-EHEA bachelor’s degrees (llicenciatura), 5-year engineering degrees (enginyeria), 5-year architecture degrees (arquitectura), diplomas (diplomatura), 3-year engineering degrees (enginyeria tècnica) and 3-year architecture degrees (arquitectura tècnica). Furthermore, there is no catalogue that establishes the name of qualifications and, therefore, the above list shall be understood as applying to qualifications with different names but equivalent content to those in the table.
Admission to each specialisation follows the priority levels established in the access requirements.
Candidates within the same priority level will be ranked according to their academic record (from 1 to 10).
Ethics and Political Philosophy are two dimensions of Philosophy very demanded by society. The Master’s Degree in Ethics and Democracy aims to respond to these demands, dealing with the great topics of Ethics and Politics, with special emphasis on democracy. For these we have the experiences of classical and contemporary philosophers and with other sources of knowledge, like literature and sciences.
The Master’s is structured in two big sections The first refers to the Foundation of Ethics and Politics, and includes three sections like the following: democracy, citizenship, State and civil society, multiculturism and interculturism, global justice, cosmopolitanism, human development, solidarity, human rights, feminist theory and religion. The second section focuses on Applied Ethics in the differents spheres of social life: moral education in a pluralitisc and democratic society, economy and business, mass media, science and technology, with special attention to bioethics, biopolitics and ecological ethics
The Master’s is linked to the Interuniversity Doctoral Studies in Ethics and Democracy, with Excellence Award, from which a leading research in Ethics, Political Philosophy and Applied Ethics is being developed. This pioneering research has made that the group of professors who teach it have been recognised as R&D Group of Excellence of the Valencian Government.
The Master’s Degree porgramme is aimed at a wide range of graduates in philosophy, human studies, economy, business administration, political sciences, sociology, communication, education sciences, psychology, medicine, nursery and health sciences, but also to professional and social agents so that they can complete their training in the field of Ethics and Political Philosophy, and develop research in the doctoral programme. This cross-disciplinary character has been very positive for the student’s training and research objectives as well as for their incorporation to the labor world
The selection criteria are as follows:
- Curriculum Vitae, which will compromise 80% of the final mark.
i. The following aspects will be taken into account:
ii. Academic report, up to 40 points.
iii. Professional experience up to 20 points.
iv. Workshops and seminars the student has attended, attendance to congresses, training courses, publications, stayings in other universities (Erasmus Programmes), etc., up to 30 points.
v. Knowledge of languages of scientific interest, up to 10 points.
- Personal interview, which will compromise 20% of the final mark.
The master’s degree in contemporary philosophicy offers training with philosophical rigour on ideas, concepts, trends of thought and current debates on philosophy, culture, art, politics, religion, science and technology.
The master’s degree is open to two approaches: formative and research-oriented. The formative approach is meant to familiarize students with the main problems and contemporary debates in philosophy, as well as to enhance their understanding of how Philosophy relates to other areas of our culture and research. This perspective is of special interest for graduates or ‘licenciados/as’ in Philosophy, Humanities, History, History of Art, Political Sciences, Sociology, Journalism, Communication, Language Studies, Architecture and Fine Arts. The second approach will meet the previous constraints and, besides, facilitate an access in optimal conditions to a PhD Program in Philosophy.
Recently, the schedule of courses has been renewed, so that:
(a) philosophical disciplines previously unattended, such as aesthetics, moral philosophy, and political philosophy, are now fully covered; and (b) students have more possibilities to choose the subjects according to their respective intellectual interests.
Professional career: PhD program in Philosophy; cultural management, publishing management, communication, cultural criticism and intellectual consultancy; research, especially in humanities and social sciences; teaching philosophy and related subjects at different educational levels.
The Master’s Degree in Contemporary Philosophical Thought is open to two kind of students:
1.- Holders of a licenciatura or undergraduate degree in Philosophy.
2.- Other graduates in other degrees (mainly in human and social sciences and with artistic training) interested in reflecting on the theoretical and conceptual foundations of their fields of specialisation.
The Committee will assess the CV of students (which will determine 100% of the evaluation of each admission application), applying the following criteria:
- Academic record: up to 40 points.
- Degree in Philosophy: 20 points.
- Professional experience (teaching or research in Philosophy or Humanities), international research stays, participation in conferences, courses or other degrees, publications and suchlike: up to 20 points.
- Knowledge of philosophically relevant languages: French, German and Italian (official certificate of level B1 or higher of the CEFR or equivalent); English (official certificate of levels higher than those that have been provided in compliance with the entry requirements, or equivalent): up to 20 points.
In order to be admitted to this Master’s Degree, in addition to holding an official university degree that allows access to the Master’s, students from non-English-speaking countries who also come from the education system of a country whose language is not English, must provide a B1 English level, as defined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) classification. On the other hand, in order to be admitted to this Master's Degree, in addition to holding an official university degree that allows access to the Master’s, students from non-Spanish-speaking countries who also come from the education system of a country whose language is not Spanish, must provide a C1 Spanish level, as defined in the classification of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or, alternatively, a B2 Spanish level and C1 English level, similarly defined. However, in the latter case, students who come from education systems where English is the language of instruction will be excluded from the requirement of C1 English level.
The training of those involved in the definition and development of education policies and in the various levels of management of educational institutions requires a training that enables, in turn, the appropriate qualification and professionalization, to influence the improvement of its quality. It is clear the existent social, political and technical demand for the managers of the education systems, in addition of some leadership of their environment, to have knowledge, skills and techniques aimed to respond to the situations and challenges that those functions require. We consider that in education participate professionals who have degrees in different areas of knowledge. For this reason, this Master’s doesn’t have any restriction regarding to the degrees for accessing to the same. However, for the purpose of admission, will be prioritised those who have professional experience in the field of education, as well as those graduated in the degrees, Diplomas or licenciaturas (former Spanish undergraduate degree) in Teaching (with different specialities), Social Education, Pedagogy or Psychological Pedagogy (or its foreign equivalents),
It is considered interesting, although is not a requirement for accessing, some professional experience (or at least internships) in the proper areas of the Master’s, as can allow to the student to a significant understanding of the competences of the same.
Selection criteria:
The psycho-pedagogical knowledge have been specified and consolidated in recent years, as one of the fundamental elements of the structure of support of the educational system. In such a way that the current Higher Education Act includes among the principles of education in our country: the “educational and professional orientation of students”; “the education for the conflict prevention and for the pacified decision of students” or “the development of the effective equality between men and women”. Those proposals have been developed in much more detail in the regulations that regularise the primary and secondary schools, by means of the creation of Pedagogical Coordination Committees and those of Orientation Departments. All of these have consolidated the figure of the educational psychologist, to such an extent that it has been turned into a fundamental element of the intervention with the students, firmly established in the structure of the educational system.
The professional of the Educational Psychology focuses its functions on the educational processes of orientation and teaching, learning, by developing its task in a wide range of occupations, both in the educational and socio-labour environment. The Master's Degree in “Psychopedagogy” is open to two kinds of students:
1.-Holders of a Licenciatura and/or Undergraduate Degree of the area of the Psychology or the Education (Pedagogy, Psychology, Teacher Training and Social Education).
2. -Other graduates from other specialisations. At all events, these students should opt for one of the entry specialisations to the Master’s Degree: Psychology or Education. For this they must certify that they have completed at least 15 credits of this field, as a requirement for entering to the Master’s Degree. All this, without prejudice of other requirements which may be eventually created by the Committee that manages this Master’s Degree, allowing an appropriate completion-
Selection criteria:
a) Curriculum vitae 100% of the total assessment (or 70% in those cases in which the candidate is interviewed), judged according to:
•Academic record: Up to 40 points
•Knowledge of foreign languages. Up to 10 points
•Professional experience: Up to 30 points
•Courses, congresses, stays in other Universities, etc. Up to 0 points
b) Personal interview, if it takes place, made by the Master’s committee, in cases in which this one determines that it is necessary. So, the result will contribute in a 30% to the total mark.
For those students coming from other countries, where the official language is not Spanish, they should prove by an official certificate a B2 level of Spanish language, according to the Language European Framework.
The continuous development and growing importance of professionals and researchers graduated in different degrees in the field of education, social sciences and humanities, and specifically in the context of social education require an academic programme that examines new fields of interdisciplinary knowledge and that provides conceptual and procedural tools to improve professional competitiveness and research capacity.
The curriculum offered in these undergraduate degrees includes a wide range of knowledge related to the socio-psycho-pedagogical training of professionals who will participate in social and educational intervention projects and programmes. But sometimes such training is not enough to examine social and educational problems in depth. Indeed, as several analysis of the social world have pointed out, the structural complexity is growing and the current stage of capitalism, previously focused on work and production, shows now new sides related to consumption, individualization and the precariousness of human bonds.
Deregulation and economic globalisation produce new forms of social and cultural relations, more fragile and changing. When facing this transitory and liquid reality (in Bauman’s terms), social educators need to raise new questions, design new strategies and enable new forms for the research and construction of socially and educationally useful knowledge.
The Master’s Degree in Educational and Social Action is based, both academically and professionally, on these new analyses and intends to introduce graduates to the new problems and to develop the knowledge required to obtain appropriate answers.
This Master’s degree is focused on the professionalisation of social and educational action and opens the door to research. That’s a fundamental aspect for Social Education graduates, who didn’t have a pathway to research in the former Diplomatura.
It is also an interesting option for graduates in other fields such as pedagogy, education, psychology or social work who are developing their professional career in this interdisciplinary area.
This Master’s degree integrates the experience and networks gained in the two degrees linked to the Master’s which have been taught at the Faculty: the “Diploma in Mediation in Educational Intervention” and the “European Master’s Degree in Analysis and Innovation of Social and Educational Intervention”.Students must prove that they have completed undergraduate studies in the field of social and educational action, or that they have professional experience in this area. The analysis and reflection on the society in which we live and the interest in education as an element to facilitate the emancipation and comprehensive development of individuals and groups are essential to take this Master’s degree.
Applications for admission are individually reviewed, taking into account the curriculum vitae and the academic record and in accordance with the global parameters established in the current regulations. Students whose mother tongue is not one of the official languages of the Valencian Community must accredit a level of knowledge of any of the two languages that allows them to understand the lectures, either through a document or by contacting the directors in order to establish an alternative procedure.
