On March 11, POWERCO-UV held an awards ceremony at the School of Engineering of the Univeristat de Valéncia (ETSE-UV) to honor two of its initiatives: The First Edition of the POWERCO-UV Chair Award for the best Master´s Thesis (TFM) on the research, development, manufacturing, use and recycling of batteries and the Challenge Energy Environment.
Award for the Best Master´s Thesis in Battery Technologies
As a part of the First Edition of the POWERCO-UV Chair Award for the Best Master´s Thesis, the award was granted to Javier Estarelles Nácher, who holds a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master´s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universitat de València, for his thesis defended during the 2024-2025 academic year, titled “Fabrication of WO3 nanoelectrodes in the presence of carboxylic acids for subsequent energy and environmental applications.” ("Fabricación de nanoelectrodos de WO3 en presencia de ácidos carboxílicos para su posterior uso energético y medioambiental")
This award aims to recognize the best academic work related to the research, development, manufacturing, use and recycling of batteries as well as to foster student interest in a key field within the industry.
UV Challenge Energy Environment
In addition, the UV Challenge Energy Environment awards were presented during the ceremony. The first prize went to the EsmorzarETSE group, composed of students from the Master´s Degree in Chemical Engineering: Miquel Peñarrocha Eixarch, Evian Vázquez González, Adrián Diago Ros y Salvador Ballester Soriano.
Second prize went to the Voltaje Extremo group, composed by the students from the Master´s Degree in Chemical Engineering as well: Alejandro Martínez Vicente, Abigail Yajaira Acosta, Antonio García Ariza y Hugo Verduras Bolinches.
The third price went to the teams Energía Química, composed by Blanca Moreno Signes, Mar Simó Blasco, Joan García Cortina and Francesc Ruíz Soler, and Química_3, formed by Joel Maestro Llácer, José A. López Albors, Andreu Morillas Berga y Marc Villalba Calleja, all the students are from the Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering.
The award ceremony was attended by: Rafael Magdalena Benedito, the Head of the School of Engineering of the UV (ETSE-UV), Paula Marzal Doménech and José Torres País, Co-directors of the POWERCO-UV Chair and y Ángel Robles Martínez, Deputy Director for Institutional Relations, Equality and Culture of the ETSE-UV, and on the behalf of the Power-Co: Andreas Huels, Head of the Health, Safety and Environment Department, Lorena Rodrigo, Head of the Corporate Communications and External Relation Department , and Lada Giniyatova, from the Talent Department.
