Demetri Ribes, born in Valencia in 1875 was one of the most important architects of the 20th Century. Hired in 1902 by the Compañía de los Caminos de Hierro del Norte de España held its activity his death in 1921. The Estació del Nord (North Station) of Valencia, the offices of the Príncipe Pio Station of Madrid of the Barcelona-Vilanova Station are some examples of his architectonic works. He becomes, hence, a necessary reference when we speak about the Valencian Secessionist movement and a main character in the first steps of a rational architecture. The UV-CHOPTV Demetri Ribes Chair, from which it takes its name, tries to pay homage to one of the most valuable architects of the 20th Century.
