ONCO-PlayFit, recognised with the 2026 MOTIVEM Award and an honour mention in the UV Entrepreneurship Awards
The ONCO-PlayFit project, developed in the frame of the Chair of Physical Exercise and Childhood Cancer, keeps being recognised due to its innovative potential. In the last few weeks, the initiative was awarded with the 2026 MOTIVEM Award by the Universitat de València in the branch of Health Sciences, and it has also received an honour mention in the Entrepreneurship Awards at the Pre-Incubator Network of the Universitat de València in this year’s edition, in which the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (EmprénEsport) participated for the first time.
ONCO-PlayFit appears with the aim to improve the attachment of physical exercise as an adjuvant therapy during the paediatric cancer treatment, through a digital platform based on gamification. With this interactive experience, the project is aimed at increasing children and teenager’s motivation, making it easier to track their evolution, and concentrating the information of the exercise programme, promoting coordination between health professionals, researchers, and families.
The 2026 MOTIVEM Award, promoted by the Universitat de València and managed by ADEIT, recognises initiatives that are able to generate a positive impact on society through innovation and entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the honour mention obtained at the Entrepreneurship Awards at the Pre-Incubator Network highlights the transfer and development potential of the project, reinforcing its projection towards a future implementation.
The recognition implies an important boost to keep developing ONCO-PlayFit, and it consolidates the work carried out by a multidisciplinary team of students and researchers in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (GIBD), and health professionals (Hospital La Fe), who are committed to the improvement through physical exercise of the quality of life of children and teenagers affected with cancer.
From the Chair of Physical Exercise and Childhood Cancer, we want to convey our heartfelt thanks to ADEIT, UVemprén, and the Universitat de València for promoting initiatives that foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer with social impact. We also thank the judges and all the people involved in both calls for the recognition given to ONCO-PlayFit, which encourages us to keep working to bring this tool closer to clinical practice and to contribute to improving the experience of paediatric cancer patients and their families.
