The Faculty of Economics hosts the final of the 17th Business Project Contest featuring the Chair for International Finance-Banco Santander.

During the morning of 7 May, the Faculty of Economics of the Universitat de València hosted the exhibition of the finalist projects of the 17th ‘Business Project Ana M. Aroca Mengual’ Contest, in which Vocational and Upper Secondary Education students from different educational centres of the Valencian Community participated.

Promoted by the team of the Vice-Dean of Participation, Volunteering and Equality, the contest is developed in cooperation with different entities and institutional chairs from the Universitat de València, including the Chair for International Finance-Banco Santander.

Every chair cooperating with the Business Project Contest has given an award to three of the finalist projects:

  • ‘PAPALLONA’, presented by the students Victoria Chanet Montesinos, Vera Llompart Calabuig, Sara Sebastiá Crespo, and Noa Richaud Aliaga, and supervised by the teachers Silvia Aparisi Requena and Cristina Gasó Ponce from IES Ferrer i Guàrdia in Valencia, achieved the award sponsored by the Chair for Business and Humanism. The project suggests an underwear, pyjamas and t-shirts line adapted for people with extreme skin sensitivity, using fabric specially thought to prevent irritation and improve the welfare of those affected by these conditions.
  • ‘RESTYLE’, developed by the students Rosa Cuñat Casquel and Paula Sánchez Núñez, and supervised by te teacher Víctor Luna Tárrega from IES el Saler in Valencia, achieved the award sponsored by the Chair for International Finance-Banco Santander. This project suggests a mobile app aimed at sustainable fashion, whose goal is to transform and customise already existing clothes, promoting creativity and reducing the environmental impact caused by the textile industry.
  • ‘CERCA DE TI SL’, presented by the students Daniela Coronado Jaramillo, Mónica Coso Cerrada, Nerea Lainez Boada, and Marta Santarrufina Blat, and supervised by the teacher María Desireé Esteve Lidón from Colegio Salesianos San Antonio Abad in Valencia, achieved the award sponsored by the Faculty of Economics. This is a project with a strong social nature that aims to provide a response to an increasingly present reality: loneliness and the need for punctual support of many elderly people with a moderate degree of dependency.

Seven second prizes were also given to other finalist projects, acknowledging their excellent work and presentation.

The award ceremony was chaired by Rosa Yagüe, Vice-Principal for Economy and Planning; Francisco Muñoz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; Begoña Herrero, director of the Chair for International Finance-Banco Santander; and Tomás González, director of the Chair for Business and Humanism.

The Chair for International Finance-Banco Santander congratulates all the participants and specially, those teams awarded for leading projects that stand out for their entrepreneurial initiative, their commitment to social values and sustainability, as well as the academic rigour with which business ideas were defended, reflecting the great talent of the participating students.
