The Chair for Comic Studies SM Foundation-Universitat de València has organised the workshop ‘From photo-reportage to graphic chronicle’, given by the photographer Carlos Spottorno, at the Aula de Cómic of the University, on 16 and 17 July. This workshop analyses the rise of photocomic in journalism, studying how traditional photo-reportage formats are losing their audience, while the documentary and journalistic graphic novel is experiencing a moment of splendour and is bringing new paths to journalism. In this workshop, participants are introduced to the genesis of this language and a practical exercise is carried out in which they can experience the different phases of creation in a direct and participative way, starting from a report previously made available to them, working on the sequences, layout and texts.
