On 16 October, the Chair for Comic Studies SM Foundation-UV was present at the Colegio Mayor Rector Peset to present Papaya Salad, the new book by Elisa Macellari.

Papaya Salad, published by Liana Editorial, is the story of a long journey between Thailand and Europe on the eve of the Second World War, in which the author navigates between two culturally distant worlds to talk about her roots.

Elisa Macellari is an Italian illustrator of Thai descent, with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Perugia and currently based in Milan. Since 2012 she has been working as a freelance illustrator, and this 2019 she has published her first graphic novel, Papaya Salad, in which she tells the story of her own uncle Sompong, who during his youth crossed half the world before being stationed in Italy just before the outbreak of the Second World War.

The author herself was present at the presentation of the work at the CM Rector Peset, along with Professor Álvaro Pons, director of the Chair for Comic Studies SM Foundation-Universitat de València.
