The DevStat Chair was present in the cycle of conferences of “Espai Ciencia” for the popularization of the research fields awarded with the Nobel Prize 2017

The director of DevStat Chair, Jose Vila, presented the lecture ‘Nudging to improve our decision-making’

Organised as a lecture in the cycle of conferences of Espai Ciencia for the popularization of the research fields awarded with the Nobel Prize 2018, this lecture presented the contributions of Richard Thaler, Nobel Prize in Economics 2017.

Thaler was awarded with this prize “for incorporating psychologically realistic assumptions into analyses of economic decision-making. By exploring the consequences of limited rationality, social preferences, and lack of self-control, he has shown how these human traits systematically affect individual decisions as well as market outcomes."

Thaler is one of the fathers of Behavioural Economics and it applications to policy-making in what is known as ‘nudge approach’.

Thaler’s work is very related to the goal of DevStat Chair, that is defined as to promote research, innovation, training and popularisation of in new quantitative methods based on Data Science and Behavioural Economics to improve decisions for policy making and business development.
