Its new director is Jaime Güemes Heras, doctor in Biological Sciences, director and curator of the Botanical Garden and professor at the Universitat de València.
The Chair for Economy for the Common Good (EBC) of the Universitat de Valencia (UV) was created with the aim of developing and promoting the Economy for the Common Good in the Valencian Community from the university environment through the implementation of various diffusion, training and research activities.
The general objective of the Chair is to disseminate the principles and values of the EBC, giving priority to the general interest and the common good over particular interests, and to people and work over capital and money. Through debate, discussion, research and training, the aim is to offer a critical view of the economy, offering sustainable alternatives (economic, social and ecological) to the problems of Valencian society. The constitution and development of CBE organisations will also be promoted, focusing on socially responsible and ethical enterprises, especially cooperatives and other Social and Solidarity Economy organisations.
