Gandia, March 10, 2025 - The Federació de Falles de Gandia has formalized an agreement with the Chair of Territorial Thinking Joan Noguera of the Universitat de València for the realization of one of the studies that is based on an in-depth analysis of the economic and social impact of the Fallas on the city.
The study aims to rigorously quantify the impact that this celebration has on various economic sectors, as well as the impact on the local community. The Federació de Falles de Gandia aware of the vital role that the holiday plays in the city’s economy and cultural identity, has commissioned this analysis to obtain concrete data that will enable it to continue promoting Gandia’s development through its traditions.
Francisco Martínez, the president of the Federació de Falles de Gandia, highlighted the significance of this study in determining the exact economic impact of the festival on the city: ¨Las Fallas de Gandia are so much more than a cultural celebration; they are a key economical factor for our city. With this study we want to have real data that allows us to assess its impact and continue working to improve and promote the celebrations.”

The agreement between the two entities strengthens the partnership between the Federació de Falles de Gandia and Universitat de València, promoting research and knowledge as the fundamental tools for the progress of the city. The results of the study will be published in the next few months and will be the base for the future initiatives oriented in the sustainability and the growth of the celebration.
The study that the Universitat de València is developing, analyzes the traceability of the celebration and its impact, by conducting a survey of stakeholders and institutions that are also involved in celebration. This includes conducting a series of surveys and field studies to determine the actual number and profile of visitors in the city during Fallas week and to analyze the celebration´s impact on businesses in the tourism and service sectors.
In this regard, there will be conducted surveys on the Fallas families, Fallas committees, visitors, turists and residents. At the same time, we will contact related businesses (hotels, restaurants, leisure, lodging, urban and intercity transportation systems, etc.). All of these actions will be supplemented with information collected directly from the administrations and institutions. Finally, the study incorporates a INPUT-OUTPUT model, a technique that takes into account the interdependence among the different sectors of the economy, illustrating how the goods and services of each sector serve as inputs for the others.
