The IECO UV Chair of Business Ethics together with the Abigail Adams Institute and the RCC at Harvard University organizes the Sixth IECO-RCC International Colloquium. This year, the title of the event is: “Trust Based Management: practical ways of humanizing business”. The purpose of the Colloquiums is to bring together leading scholars and practitioners to shed light on what it takes to promote a work place environment that brings out the best in people, creating not only trust, but also organizations that thrive.

Previous IECO-RCC International Colloquiums were videotaped and are available at Harvard University’s You Tube Channel. The First one (2013) focused on “The role of ethics, values and dignity in building trust”. The Second Colloquium (2014) examined “The role of moral and spiritual motivation in building trust”. The Third IECO-RCC International colloquium (2015) focused on “Developing Trust and Ethically Healthy Organizations through Humanistic Management”. The Fourth Colloquium (2016) dealt with the topic of “Building Trust in Organizations through Meaningful work". Finally, last year, the Fifth Colloquium (2017) considered the question of “Millennials Education for ethical leadership and trust”.

This year’s Colloquium will focus on practical ways of humanizing business. If trust, flourishing and meaningful work are to be a concern for bosses and managers, then how do companies go about implementing and measuring successful outcomes for these intangibles? To answer this question, we will have the opportunity to listen to three experts in the area and two business practitioners. We hope that the interdisciplinary theoretical and practical approach of the discussion will lead to an engaging and fruitful debate.
