The Girls4STEM Family 2024 talk was held with great success on 30 May at CaixaForum València. Isabelle Hupont was the ambassador of the event.

The event, which was dedicated to the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) vocations among young women, was attended by its ambassador, Isabelle Hupont Torres, a renowned doctor and researcher in Artificial Intelligence, the metaverse and human-machine interaction. Hupont is a member of the European Union’s scientific staff and currently serves as an EU Science Officer at the Joint Research Center (JRC). You can watch the full event on the Girls4STEM YouTube channel.

In her presentation, entitled ‘In famil.ia: learn how Artificial Intelligence is transforming our lives and how we can improve it together’, Isabelle Hupont provided a concise and engaging overview of Artificial Intelligence, elucidating its applications and interactions in our daily lives.

Following the presentation, Xaro Benavent García, the coordinator of Girls4STEM, delivered a summary of the project’s annual activities, accompanied by a list of the educational institutions, teaching staff and STEM specialists who participated in this edition.

The event served to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of the participating educational institutions, to announce the winners of the 5th Girls4STEM Awards and to present their prizes. The work of the participating centres can be viewed in the video compilation of the 5th Girls4STEM Awards. In this edition, the winning centres from across the Valencian Community were those indicated at the prize-giving ceremony by the Universitat de València.

The event had a significant impact, providing a forum for students and their families to explore and be inspired by the disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Furthermore, attendees were granted complimentary access to the CaixaForum exhibitions and raffle giveaways, thereby facilitating an enriching and educational experience.

The event served not only to reward the winners but also to highlight the positive impact of initiatives such as Girls4STEM on the promotion of education and gender equality in science and technology.

It is noteworthy that this edition of the event attracted 455 students, 150 families, 21 teachers, 23 STEM experts, 57 collaborating companies and numerous memorable interactions between girls, boys, experts and science.

This presentation forms part of the activities organised by Girls4STEM from the ETSE-UV, the Office of the Vice-Principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusive Policies, the Equality Unit and the Office of the Vice-Principal for Innovation and Transfer at the Universitat de València. In addition, it has received financial support from the Valencian Employment Service (LABORA) of the Generalitat Valenciana.
