The Jean Monnet Chair Services of General Economic Interest in the framework of social and democratic cohesion collaborates in the publication of the book European Democracy and the Single Market: 30 years of the Maastricht Treaty. The book has been edited by the Chair's Director, María Jesús García García and published by Thomson Reuters-Aranzadi.
The book analyses the contributions made by the Maastricht Treaty after its entry into force, as well as its effectiveness and validity today, in the light of the new circumstances and evolution of the Community project. In this book, different experts in Community law from different Member States of the European Union analyse, from different areas and legal perspectives, the contributions made by the Maastricht Treaty and its repercussions on the process of European integration, focusing above all on the aspects related to the democratic evolution of the European Union and the process of economic integration from the new social and environmental perspectives brought about by Maastricht.
Leading EU law experts from various European universities, including Professor Ennio Triggiani of the University of Bari, have been involved in the preparation of the book.
