Sonia Rodríguez Llamas, member of the Culture for Legal Mediation Chair, took part in the Unisocietat program of the Universitat de València with a talk in consumer mediation on 2 November.
On 2 November the lecturer of the Department of Civil Law gave the conference “Present issues of consumer mediation” in the Assembly Hall of the Quart de Poblet Council.
Sonia Rodríguez Llamas expressed to the attending public the importance of out-of-court settlement of conflicts related with consumption through mediation. The lecturer explained that the consumer mediation is a mechanism that can be used so as to increase and improve the consumers protection, since mostly of the disputes that are produced in this subject are not arranged by judicial means. This results from the fact that they normally are small claims, so the consumer is not interested in a judicial proceeding. In this way, as well as other alternative procedures of dispute resolution, it is perfect for this field, since it allows to reduce deadlines and enable cost savings.
