Due to the housing crisis in Valencia, Antonio Sánchez Andrés (Director of the Chair for Economic and Social Policy of the Valencian Region) and Luz Ramírez (Chair for Economic and Social Policy of the Valencian Region) report that protected housing is not enough, representing only a 3-5 % of the current construction.
They criticise that these houses move to the free market after 30 years, reducing the public housing stock compared to more stable European models.
Experts propose to safeguard public housing permanently, increasing state investment and building models adapted to the real economic capacity of young people and the average income.
