The head of the Chair, Paz Viguer, served as a judge for the debates that took place from 28 to 30 of November.
From 28 to 30 November, nineteen students studying different degrees participated in the UV Internal Debate League in which they argued both sides of a current polemic—Must we be tolerant of the intolerant? Team B, led by Guillem Álvarez Torres, won the local phase, while the award for best speaker was given to Jordi Ferrer i Pardo from Team C. Participants from this phase will be selected to make up the team that is to represent the Universitat de València in the Xarxa Vives Debate League that will take place at the Universitat Juame I in April of 2024.
The judges panel that assessed the debates was made up of teaching staff from the Universitat de València, including : Maria Paz Viguer Seguí, from the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology; Maria Josep Picó Garcés, professor of the Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences, and Miquel Nicolás Amorós and Ramon X. Rosselló Ivars both from the Department of Catalan Studies.
Before participating in the League, the students studied the course titled Public Speaking: a preparatory course for the University Debate League. In this training course, the students worked on public speaking with tactics for oral speeches, overcoming stage fright, as well as voice and body training.
