On Friday, 17 July, the Assembly Hall of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy at the University of Valencia hosted the graduation ceremony for the 2025–2026 class of the University Master’s Degree in Psychogerontology.

The event began with the closing lecture, “Ageing: A Window of Opportunity”, delivered by Karla Arroyo Quesada, a lecturer at the University of Costa Rica and a doctoral candidate in the Psychogerontology: A Life-Course Perspective doctoral programme. During her presentation, she shared some preliminary findings from her research into the new life transitions experienced by current generations of older people.

The second part of the ceremony featured contributions from Juan José Zacarés, director of the master’s degree, and Sheila Martínez Montoya and María Francés Belda, representing the student body. Their speeches highlighted the atmosphere of collaboration and learning developed throughout the academic year, as well as the cultural diversity and range of backgrounds that characterised this graduating class.

The graduates were then presented with their graduation sashes.

During the ceremony, an honorary sash was also awarded to Ignacio Catalán Serra, lecturer responsible for the course Nutrition, Lifestyle and Health in Ageing, in recognition of his longstanding contribution, dedication and teaching commitment to the master’s degree since its inception. Antonio Ferrer, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy, delivered the closing remarks.

The celebration concluded with an informal gathering, during which the graduates were able to share the occasion with their families, friends and members of the master’s teaching staff.
