Quality Culture

In a globalised world, one of the keys for the success of a country is the quality of the further education. In the last years, the proceeding of quality assurance have become general in our universities, but the establishment of a real quality culture is still a pending subject. Building a quality culture means to engage all the actors involved to reach the objectives of organisation and improvement continuously. So it can’t be limited to the use of management tools, but is has to arouse a joint of values and habits in all the collectives.

Date: 10 October 2016

Time: 15 to 17 h

Place: "Joan Pelechano” Assembly Hall

Speaker: Rosendo Pou Amérigo (Director of the Unitat de Qualitat of the UV)

In our university, it has been a significant improvement in this area, but there is still a large number of set backs to overcome. Some of them drift from the superficial and bureaucratic use of the tools and the imbalance towards the accountability, which seems to push into the background the real improvement of the teaching-learning proceedings. So, it’s convenient to rethink the meaning of the proceedings carried in this area, optimize the relationship benefit/effort and distinguish between the things that are absolutely necessary to achieve and the ones that would be interesting, but not essential.

Rosendo Pou is teacher of Physical Chemistry in the UV since the 2002, and Director of the Quality Unit of the UV since February 2012. He studied Chemical Sciences in this university, where he got the Special Award of B.A and where he got his doctorate in 1995. He is a member of the Theoretical Chemistry Unit in the Institute for Molecular Science of the UV, where he worked in the of quantum chemistry characterization of electroactive molecular systems.

He took an active part in the proceedings of educative innovation and  improvement of the educational quality. These proceedings were linked with the construction of the European Higher Education Area. In this context, he became part of the educative group who won the Second Award to the Educational Innovation in 2008,  awarded by the UEM and the Quality and Teaching Innovation Award in 2008  awarded by the Board of Trustees de la UV. In this context, he also won the Quality and Teaching Innovation Award 2010 of the Board of Trustees of the UV.
