Access with studies already started to the second stage

Admission to the second cycle of licenciaturas (5-year degrees) and engineering degrees

Places for new entry to the second cycles will be reduced as new undergraduate degree programmes are offered. In some cases the second cycles will be converted into undergraduate degrees and are to be accessed through general admissions. In other cases they will be converted into official Master’s degree programmes.

Requirements

Completion of the first cycle that gives access to a different second cycle.

If there are a limited number of places, assignment is based on the following criteria:

Admission to the second cycle of a first and second cycle degree programme

University of Valencia students: pre-enrolment according to the average grade of the academic transcript.
Students from universities in Valencia: 15 % of the places are reserved for students whose desired degree programme is not offered at the public centres of their university. Pre-enrolment is based on the average grade of the academic transcript.
Students from other universities: 5% of the places are reserved for students whose desired degree programme is not offered at the public centres of their university.

Admission to the second cycle of a second cycle degree programme

All students are considered on an equal basis. Pre-enrolment is based on the average grade of the academic transcript.
If you are from outside the district of Valencia, and the second cycle you are applying for is not offered in your district of origin, you may be given priority. If it is offered, you will not be given first priority.

Other important decisions

The total number of credits taken to obtain a licenciado (5-year degree) or an engineering degree must be a minimum of 300 credits. If the sum of the credits from the first and second cycle is lower, credit hours need to be completed by optional or additional subjects. Additional training subjects, if available, are counted towards the total number of credits.

Additional training courses specified by the Ministry of Education are established as subjects by each university. They can be taken:

  •     Simultaneously with the first cycle. You can choose whether they are considered optional subjects or free-elective subjects of the original degree.
  •     Simultaneously with the second cycle, at the same time the degree subject is taken.
