Jorge Baeza Ballesteros, has been honored with the "Primer Premio Nacional de Fin de Carrera Universitaria" award from the Ministry of Science which recognizes the "academic excellence" of the best university records in the country.

Jorge Baeza Ballesteros, PhD in Physics from the University of Valencia, has been honored with the First National University Degree Completion Award (Primer Premio Nacional de Fin de Carrera Universitaria) from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, which recognizes the "academic excellence" of the best university records in the country.

Jorge pursued his Physics studies at the University of Valencia between 2015 and 2019. During the final year of his degree, the student received a Research Introduction Grant (Beca de Introducción a la Investigación) from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) to carry out his Degree Final Project (Trabajo de Fin de Grado) at the Institute for Corpuscular Physics (IFIC). His project focused on the study of two-particle interactions in finite volume. For his qualifications, Jorge obtained the Extraordinary Degree Completion Award (Premio Extraordinario de Fin de Carrera), granted by the university, and the Academic Excellence Grant (Beca de Excelencia Académica), awarded by the Valencian Government (Generalitat Valenciana). Furthermore, the student was honored in 2016 by the Carmen Izquierdo Besante Monzó Foundation for obtaining the best grades at the University of Valencia among all first-year students in scientific disciplines, and in 2021 with the Captaincy General of Valencia Award (Premio Capitanía General de Valencia), for obtaining the best grades among all students in scientific disciplines throughout the degree.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Jorge pursued the Master of Advanced Studies in Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), with a scholarship from the La Caixa Foundation. For his grades in this course, he was awarded the Wright Prize and the Horne Scholarship, granted by St. John's College.

In 2020, Jorge returned to the University of Valencia and the IFIC to undertake a PhD in Theoretical Physics financed by a University Teaching Staff Training Grant (Beca de Formación de Profesorado Universitario - FPU) from the Ministry of Universities. His research, conducted under the supervision of Professor Pilar Hernández and researcher Daniel G. Figueroa, focused on the use of numerical methods for the study of nuclear interactions between particles and high-energy phenomena in the early universe. During his doctorate, Jorge co-authored several scientific articles published in high-impact journals. Additionally, during his doctorate, the student completed research stays at the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom), Washington (USA), Berkeley (USA), and Helsinki (Finland), and participated as a speaker in various international seminars and conferences. Finally, Jorge defended his thesis in October 2024, obtaining the highest possible grade of Cum Laude.

Currently, Jorge is a postdoctoral researcher at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Zeuthen (Germany), where he continues his research focused on the study of nuclear interactions and the physics of the early universe through the use of numerical techniques.
