The students of the Universitat de València have a new appointment with employment in the Forum of the Faculty of Geography and History

The next Employment Forum of the Universitat de València will be held at the Faculty of Geography and History on Thursday, 22 February. The challenges of Artificial Intelligence in this professional field will mark the day, which will feature a score of business and organisations, and a full academic programme of debates and talks about cultural mediation, history and publishing, archaeology, job search techniques or development aid, among many other topics.

The employment fair will open at 09:00 in the Joan Fuster assembly hall, with the institutional inauguration by the principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, accompanied by the dean of the Faculty, Josep Montesinos. Afterwards, Néstor Marqués, archaeologist and cultural heritage consultant, will give a lecture on “Artificial Intelligence, technology, and the future of humanities”.

Next, in the same space, there will be an informative round table about the employment and entrepreneurship services that the Universitat de València offers to its students. Participants include the International Relations and Cooperation Service, the Chair for Business Culture, UVemprén, UVjob, and the Research Management Service UV.

Around twenty companies and organisations will be set up on the terrace outside the centre, between the “Joan Reglà” Library of Humanities and outside the Faculty cafeteria, where they will remain from 11:30 to 14:00, to meet and make contact with highly qualified profiles, to position themselves as organisations that seek and value talent, and to identify themselves as organisations committed to social development. Among the participating companies and organisations, the Forum of Geography and History will have the Fundació València Activa, LABORA-GVA, and the Archivists and Document Managers Associations (Asociación de Archiveros y Gestores de Documentos Valencianos), as well as professional associations, centres for the preparation of competitive examinations, research chairs and trade union organisations.

The Employment Forum of the Faculty of Geography and History is an initiative organised by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Lifelong Learning, Educational Transformation and Employment, through the service UVjob, in collaboration with the Faculty of Geography and History, which aims to promote the employment of future graduates of this centre.

Specific academic programming

Academic sessions will take place throughout the day and will be dedicated to job opportunities and job search techniques of each degree that the Faculty offers, both degrees and master’s degrees.

Thus, the first session, starting at 13:30, will bring together the student body of the Degree in Geography, the Degree in History, and the Degree in Information and Documentation, respectively, to address different intergenerational meetings with professionals. In the afternoon, at 16:00, this degree will offer attendees a colloquium with different public and private actors, with the round table 'Information and Documentation: organisation and professional horizon'.

The Degree in Geography and Environment will try to answer the question of what to do after completing higher education in a briefing, starting at 15:00. Graduated students will also participate to share their experience in their studies and in the practice of the profession during the debate that will follow at 17:00.

From 16:00, the Degree in History will host the round table 'History in the Audiovisual Industries', while the Degree in History of Art will do the same in its round table.

Presentation of the University Master’s Degrees of the Faculty.

The Master’s Degree in Environmental and Territorial Management Techniques will have an specific programme starting at 12:00. In addition to the presentation of the master's degree itself, different workshops will deal with the techniques and tactics for professional integration in this field. 

The afternoon session will be devoted to the different training and professional alternatives that the master’s degrees of the Faculty offer to the students of the Universitat de València. 

Therefore, between 17:45 and 19:00, those interested may assist the different presentation sessions of the master’s degrees in History of the formation of the Western World, Contemporary History, History and Identities in the Western Mediterranean (15th to 19th C.), Archaeology, History of Art and Visual Culture, Cultural Heritage: Identification, Analysis and Management, and the Master’s Degree in Development Aid.

Debates, round tables, and talks will take place in the different areas of the Faculty according to the programme.
