Universitat de València, 3rd best university in Spain according to Research.com and 5th in the Scimago 2026 ranking.

Universitat de Valéncia consolidates its prominent position in the main international research rankings. According to Research.com-Best Universities Ranking, is the 3rd best university in Spain and the best in the region of Valencian Community, with a seven-place improvement worldwide- In the Scimago Instututions Rankings 2026, the UV is the first of the Valencian Community, the 5th in Spain and in on 192th place in the world, excelling in various disciplines such as Law; Food Science and Technology; Business, Management and Accounting; and Literature and literary theory.

In this month of March, the update of Research.com-Best Universities Rànquing, a platform created by scientists for scientists in which the ranking is based exclusively on the reputation of the academics of each academic institution, the University of Valencia is ranked as the third best in Spain, repeating last year’s position, and is the first Valencian. In addition, in the world ranking, it has improved seven positions, so that it has gone from place 318 to 311. The results are very positive, if, moreover, it is taken into account that there has been an increase of more than a thousand institutions participating in the ranking, going from 2,000 in 2025 to 3,323 in 2026.

As for the position in Research.com by subjects, the University is the second of Spain in Chemistry, and the third in Biology and Biochemistry, in Neurosciences and in Psychology, and remains among the top ten in 14 of the 21 disciplines analyzed.

Ranking Scimago 2026

The SCIMAGO-Institutions Rankings (SIR), in the last year´s edition, also shows the good position of the Universitat de València. In this ranking, the Universitat appears the first best in Valencian Community, the 5th in Spain and 192th in the world. This year the ranking has more participants, 5.491 best universities and institution's that carry out research compared to 5,051 last years.

In Scopus ranking, one of the main providers of worldwide bibliometric data, it is also shown that out of the 72 analyzed subjects, the University stands out in Literature and literary theory, where it occupies the third position worldwide. Moreover, remains first at the state level in Law; Science and Food Technology, Management and Accounting. It is second in Spain in Literature and literary theory; Gender Studies; Psychology, Obstetrics and Gynecology; Pedology; and in Economics, Econometrics and Finance; and third in Education, Dentistry, and Ophthalmology.

The Scimago-Institutions Rankings (SIR) developed by the SCIMAGO LAB research group, is a recourse for evaluation of the universities and institutions for scientific research worldwide, that generates information for the ranking with an aim to analyse the research results, using the Scopus data base.

This ranking classifies institutions that do researches, ordered by a composite indicator that combines three groups of indicators based on research, innovation and social impact measured by the visibility of their website. These institutions have been selected on the sole basis that they must be university and research institutions with more than 100 published articles and included in the Scopus database.
