The DataBeers symposium brought together four specialists in data science, privacy and predictive modeling on Thursday, November 9 at the Octubre Centro de Cultura Contemporánea, who gave four presentations on these topics. Among them were the directors of the Chair of Artificial Intelligence and Information Visualization (IA-Vis) and the Chair of Privacy and Digital Transformation, Inmaculada Coma and Ricard Martínez respectively, also professors at the University of Valencia, and the data science researcher Laya Targa, all three members of IRTIC.

DataBeersVLC is a periodic and free event open to all the public that aims to introduce people to any aspect related to data in a relaxed atmosphere accompanied by a drink. It is a reference meeting on data science in València since 2016 and is part of the non-profit community DataBeers, present in more than 20 cities around the world.

The paper "Air quality in Valencia", presented by the director of the IA-Vis Chair Inmaculada Coma, explained the existence of several stations of the air pollution monitoring network in the city whose data are available on the open data portal of the city council. The analysis and visualization of this information allows to observe the evolution of pollution in the city in recent years.

Regarding "Visualization and optimization of tourist routes in the city of Valencia", data science researcher Laya Targa addressed some of the innovative data-driven strategies to improve the planning and enjoyment of routes when visiting different monuments. The talk showed how data can optimize routes through visualization techniques, offering visitors a more enriching and efficient tourist experience in Valencia.

The director of the Chair of Privacy and Digital Transformation Ricard Martínez remarked in "Uffffffff Maybe (but): because processing data will be the only way to protect data" that data protection from design and traceability is preferable to prohibiting its processing. The expert mentioned in this sense the EUCAIM project, which will address the fragmentation of existing cancer image repositories and establish a distributed Atlas of Cancer Imaging with over 60 million anonymised cancer image data from over 100,000 patients.

Likewise, Ferran Fernández, from AgTech/ visualNACert, also participated with the talk "Saving water with predictive irrigation models". Through Data Grooves, the music of the digital creator Juana Peraita enlivened the evening.

EUCAIM is co-funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement umber 1011100633. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union. Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.

EUCAIM is an Action supported by the Generalitat Valenciana through the Conselleria of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism.
