The main objective of the project "ViPRAS: Virtual planning for robotic-assisted surgery" is to improve the planning of robotic-assisted surgery by applying immersive interaction techniques.
Acronym

ViPRAS

Description

Robotic surgery is a revolutionary technique that combines the precision of robotic technology with the skill of the surgeon. The 3D vision provided by the camera allows the surgeon to have a magnified and detailed view of the operating area, which facilitates accurate decision-making during the procedure. With this type of surgery, patients experience less pain, bleeding and faster recovery. This new type of surgery involves planning that is different from traditional open surgery and more similar to laparoscopic surgery. This planning must take into account not only the surgical procedure to be performed, but also the correct positioning of the robotic arms to perform it.

The main objective of the ViPRAS project is to improve the planning of robotic-assisted surgery by applying immersive interaction techniques. To this end, the project focuses on the creation of a new immersive environment, accessible from any type of device, which allows the inspection of the patient's tissues and the collaborative planning of the surgical procedure. In this environment, users will not only be able to visualize 3D tissue models, but will also be able to configure the patient's position, the positioning of the robot and even obtain a point of view similar to that of the surgical console to check that the positioning and planning are correct.
