The Inter-University Network for Innovative Teaching in Pharmacology consists of teaching staff from different universities. It was created thanks to a project granted by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Employment and Training Programmes of the University of Valencia (UV-SFPIE-GER 15-314985), as a common space for sharing resources and experiences of innovative teaching in the Pharmacology field.

The project has continued uninterruptedly until the present day, with the participation of 131 professors who teach Pharmacology in different degrees / postgraduate courses in Health Sciences (Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Optics, Nutrition and Dietetics...) belonging to 22 Spanish universities, 1 Portuguese, 2 Chilean and 1 Mexican. During these years, the coordinators of this project have been Pilar De Ocon, Mª Luisa Ferrándiz and Mª Dolores Ivorra, professors of the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Valencia.

The main pillars of the project are teaching innovation, research and transmission of what was learned, considering that the transfer of knowledge among the different universities is a potential for innovation and quality training in university education. Its aim is to improve the efficiency of the learning process and discussing the different teaching experiences of project members.  In addition, this joint work can promote a review of essential contents in Pharmacology, based on the teaching material and resources that have been created or implemented thanks to the interaction of different groups. Therefore, during these years of existence of the Network, a repository has been created through a Moodle platform of the Virtual Classroom of the University of Valencia.

This is the only project that, favoured by the UV, brings together a large number of pharmacology professors from different universities and with different levels of teaching experience. Thanks to its development, the members of the network achieve a high level of training in innovative teaching methodologies, with the advantage that all have been experienced, analysed and tested by teachers in the area of knowledge, this is a very efficient system for continuing teacher education and can serve as a model for other areas.
