On the morning of the 8th of March, the International Centre of Gandia of the Universitat de València called a rally at the doors of the building in Tossal Street on the occasion of International Women's Day. In addition, Tere Sala, a student of the Universidad de los Mayores, was in charge of reading the manifesto.

Once again, and following the calls made by the Universitat de València, the staff and students of the International Centre of Gandia met on the morning of March 8th at the doors of the building in Tossal Street to commemorate International Women's Day, which is celebrated today around the world.

After the minute of silence, Tere Sala, a student at the Universidad de los Mayores was the person in charge of reading the manifesto. Sala dedicated her first words to condemn the macho murders and to demand "global and systematic policies that are truly effective in tackling this silent pandemic that is gender violence". In addition, this manifesto wanted to recognise the role of women and girls who are leading the efforts to respond to climate change, given that this year's 8M is being celebrated under the slogan "Gender equality today for a more sustainable tomorrow". Their work will allow us to have a "more sustainable future for all people".

Through this manifesto, they wanted to show how International Women's Day is a day of demands for the struggle for rights, equal opportunities, equity and justice, encouraging everyone to continue with the demands to achieve real equality between men and women in order to "guarantee equal opportunities to advance towards a more democratic society, thus making a better society for our daughters and granddaughters".

As every year, the Universitat de València celebrated International Women's Day with an extensive programme of cultural and educational activities that will take place over several days around 8th March, the commemoration day, and will last for several weeks.
