Construction work continues on the building of the former Lluís Vives University Residence for its transformation into the Espai Vives, which is the Universitat de València’s student services centre. Presented on January 30th 2020, within the framework of the COVID-19 pandemic, and after the administrative procedures and the corresponding authorisations from the authorities, it began its construction on July 30th.

On Friday 10th December, five months after the start of the construction, the principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, accompanied by the vice-principal for Economics and Infrastructures, Justo Herrera, the general manager of the Universitat, Juan Vicente Climent, and the dean-coordinator of the Blasco Ibáñez Campus, Ferran Calabuig, visited the building site to get to know first-hand the state of progress of this comprehensive restoration of an emblematic space of our Universitat.

The management team of the Technical Unit of the Universitat de València, the architect in charge of the restoration project, Tomás Llavador, and the project management team of the construction explained the work carried out throughout the process.

During the visit to the building, the structural work carried out to consolidate the building was explained. In addition, the basement level as well as the ground and first floors were visited, where the technical teams showed the original state of the building through pictures and the results of the interventions that continue to be carried out.

Both the management team of the Technical Unit of the Universitat de València and the project management consider that the construction is proceeding at a good pace, as planned in the intervention.
