The conference opens the 10th edition of the Master's Degree in Criminology and Security of the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València which has also been organised in collaboration with the University Research Institute of Criminology and Criminal Science and the Department of Criminal Law.

The aim of the conference is to “provide a multidisciplinary vision of the various problems linked to the complex phenomenon of prostitution”, according to Asunción Colás Turégano and Rosa M. Trenado, co-directors of the Master's Degree in Criminology and Security. The main topic of the different presentations will revolve around the advisability or otherwise of its regulation, with interventions by specialists in the field such as the professor from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Mariona Llobet, who will speak on the value of consent in the practice of prostitution.

A round table will also be held in which academics and professionals from different fields (judiciary, police, third sector) will discuss the different proposals on abolition or regulation. In short, added Professors Colás and Trenado, "the aim of the conference is to offer Master's students the opportunity to reflect on and contrast positions on a subject of the utmost social relevance".
