The degree in Chemistry from the Universitat de València is the first in Spain to obtain the Eurobachelor® international quality label. The recognition is granted by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) as an authorized agency of the European Chemistry Thematic Network Association (ECTN). Students graduating in 2019 will already do so with this label.
The accreditation commission of Eurobachelor® has issued its report, in which it communicates the obtaining of the label, without prescriptions, after analyzing the documentation presented by the faculty and the report of the panel of experts. The evaluation committee visited the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universitat de València on 11 and 12 February.
During the visit, the panel met with different groups involved in the degree: students, teachers, management team, self-evaluation committee, graduates, and employers. He also made a tour of the faculty facilities in order to assess the provision and quality of spaces dedicated to teaching.
This international label is a certificate awarded to a degree issued by a university if it exceeds defined standards, such as quality, relevance, transparency, recognition and mobility, contemplated in the European Higher Education Area. The result of the evaluation has been positive and the label has a validity of six years.
The Chemistry Faculties of the Universitat de València and the Autonomous University of Madrid were the first to participate in the ANECA evaluation, and both obtained the recognition.
The dean of the faculty, Adela Mauri, highlights "the involvement of chemical companies, graduates, students and faculty in the visit that the evaluation panel made to the month of February. This process would not have been possible without the participation of all the groups involved”, she states.
Adela Mauri explains that the label guarantees that the degree meets the quality criteria established "beyond our borders, criteria agreed by international agencies for quality control in higher education, based on international standards recognized by employers in Europe. She adds: "Furthermore, it recognises the quality of the degree within and outside the country where it is taught, and this recognition feels an incentive for potential students to choose it, because this accreditation provides reliable information on the quality of the degree. Finally, it assures employers that the knowledge and practical skills of the graduates reach a set of international standards of education in the field of chemistry.
