Free intervention program for people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

The research group UBIC (Research unit in clinical biomechanics) of the Universitat de València launches a free intervention program for people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

The intervention program is based on two basic concepts of the motor relearning: mirror neurons and neuroplasticity. The aim is to evaluate the efficacy of a physiotherapy treatment, specifically cross-training, in people with carpal tunnel syndrome to reduce pain and improve hand motor function and sensitivity.

The project is currently recruiting volunteers. Therefore, if you suffer from this condition or have acquaintances who suffer from it, you can contact the researchers of this group, who will explain you the treatment guidelines in detail.

In general terms, the physical therapy intervention program will last 6 weeks at a rate of 2 days per week. Participants will be randomly divided into 2 groups. The sessions will be composed of therapeutic exercise along with cross-training. The duration of each session will be 30-45 minutes. In addition, three evaluations will be perfomed (before, after and one month after treatment) to monitor the effects. It is possible to choose a morning or afternoon schedule.

If you want to participate or know someone who can do it, or if you have any doubts about it, you can contact the research group by e-mail tunelcarpiano@uv.es.
