The group, formed by Physics, Physics and Mathematics double degree, and Physics Engineering students, became familiar in two weeks with the development of cutting-edge projects of experimental physics, covering both data analysis and the development of detectors and scientific software. 

The programme concluded with talks given by the research staff of the centre, practical workshops and individual supervised sessions. Furthermore, the students have collaborated on real research tasks within the groups and have visited the laboratories of the Institute, where advanced technologies for basic research and practical applications in fields such as medical physics and security are developed.

"Our intention is not only to getting them to know basic research in our field, but also to demonstrate the huge potential of applications that can be transferred to society", said the full professors of the Universitat de València Juan Zúñiga and Luca Fiorini, organisers of the stay alongside the CSIC scientific researcher César Domingo, the CSIC head scientist of Ximo Poveda, and the UV tenured professor of Arantza Oyanguren.

Among the various activities and workshops, the 2026 Summer Students spoke with young researchers and doctoral students in order to let them know how to start a scientific career, and they also participated in a workshop on communication and scientific dissemination, organised jointly by the departments of communication of the IFIC and the Instituto de Agroquímica y Tecnología de los Alimentos (IATA).

Thus, two weeks of intense work have come to an end, in which IFIC confirmed its commitment to training the future professionals in the field of physics. Two weeks that have allowed them to get closer to the reality of scientific research and to strengthen the knowledge of those who chose science as their academic and professional path.
