This Thursday Joan Romero inaugurates the academic year of La Nau Gran Gandia

´The end of a world´will be the title of the opening conference given by full-time university professor Joan Romero to inaugurate the course of La Nau Gran Gandia. The appointment will take place on 3 October at 19h in the Gandia Internacional Centre.
This Thursday will take place the inaugural conference of La Nau Gran Gandia 2024/2025 academic year. It will be led by Joan Romero, Emeritus full-time university professor of Human Geography at the Universitat de València. The event will take place at 19h in the Gandia International Centreand will be addressed not only to the students of La Nau Gran, but also to the general public.
The title of the conference will be ’The end of a world’ and will address the changing times that have been taking place in the last recent years. Joan Romero will explain how the consolidated global order after the end of the Second World War shows signs of a profound transformation and how, these times of transition generate a sense of uncertainty, insecurity and even fear of the future. The session will therefore analyse the causes of the recomposition of the global order, the consequences, the new geographies of today's world and the great existential challenges that we face.
Joan Romero is Emeritus full-time university professor of Human Geography at la Universitat de València and a member of the Inter-university Institute for Local Development
