Universitat de València wins Joan Lluís Vives Award for Best University Edition 2025

Universitat de València Publications won the Joan Lluís Vives Award for Best University Edition in Catalan 2025, organised by the Vives Universities Network in València. History and Geography Synthesis by Manuel Sanchis Guarner, first publiished in 1972 and a part of the Valencian patrimony.
The winning edition under the wing of Universitat de València professor Josep Vicent Boira contains over 130 unpublished sketches by Sanchis Guarner and updated pictures of over 100 locations in València. More 200 images have also been digitally edited to improve their quality.
Head of Universitat de València Publication Service Teresa Ferrer highlighted the relevance of this award 'not only for a classic of out culture, but as recognition for the effort in the material edition of the book of which images we can improve using digital means'. Ferrer addressd to the hard work of the edition by saying 'we used over 100 pictures, updating the ones already in the original edition and adding unpublished picture of Sanchis Guarner, an extremely difficul work we are very proud of'.
Universitat de València, Politechnical University of València and Alicante University Publications also received the best interetwork coedition award for La premsa valencianista 1837-1977 by Universitat de València professors Francesc-Andreu Martínez Gallego and Francesc-Tomàs Martínez Sanchis. This work offers a catalographic description of over 500 newspaper publications —some of them were not included in previous catalogues— also containing about 500 newspaper header illustations with historical comments to give context and perspective to undestand them.
Teresa Ferrer explained how the editorial promotes colaboration with both private and university editorials from Universitat de València. 'This award puts the spotlight on the collaborative effort with the alicante University and the Politechnical University of València'.
The 7th edition of the awards took place on 17 July at University of Barcelona, with Head of Universitat de València Publications Teresa Ferrer as our representative. During the event, linguist Albert Jané and biochemist Fàtima Bosch received the Vives Universities Network Honour Medal 2025.
